On their first day beginners will start on the two easy slopes, served by a travelator carpet lift at village level or on the runs at Les Suches which are located at higher level.
This must be one of the most extensive areas in the Aosta Valley for intermediates. The link between La Thuile and La Rosière is by way of a chairlift at Col de la Traversette.
With a total of 12 black runs, 8 on the Italian side and 4 on the French, there is plenty of scope for the more experienced. Add to this some fine off-piste areas above the Piccolo St Bérnard pass and the possibility of heli-skiing on the Rutor glacier and the better skier will relish the many challenges in this extensive area.
Rack up your mileage with a Ski Away-day to Pila. Just a 1 hour bus ride away from La Thuile, you’ll soon be cruising down the lovely long and well-maintained pistes, enjoying the excellent snow and snapping away at the fantastic views from the top of the resort. With your 6-day Area lift pass, you get 1 free day to let loose on Pila’s fabulous slopes, whether it’s carving, cruising or freestyling. The bus will drop you off in Aosta city, where you’ll need to jump on the ‘Pila Ski in the Sky’ gondola up the mountain. This excursion is also a great choice for non-skiers who can explore the beautiful city of Aosta instead. Speak to your rep for more details.
The San Bernardo area is home to some extensive off-piste skiing, with opportunities for some heliskiing action on the Rutor glacier. If you'd rather your feet stay safely on the ground, then some exciting terrain can be found on the wooded lower slopes which border piste number 4. If you head over the border to France, La Rosière also has a dedicated off-piste area where you can let loose.
