  • So what's it like?

Make way, make way – the Hotel Folie Douce is here. From the name that brought you the most legendary après bars in the French Alps, comes a brand-new flagship hotel, opening in Winter 18/19.

Located in the famous Palace of Chamonix – formerly known as the Grand Savoy Palace – the hotel looks over the heart of the town, with everything you need on your doorstep. It’s ski-in, ski-out, and the Savoy lift is only metres away, so you’ll be up in the Brévent-Flégère ski area in no time at all. What’s more, if you’re a beginner, you’ll be picked up for your lessons at the hotel, meaning you don’t have to brave the piste before you’re ready, or awkwardly lug around your skis.

After you’ve prised yourself away from the piste and the ski lifts shut up shop, you can head back to enjoy four hours of non-stop après from 4-8pm every single day at the After Mountain Party Bar, with singers, dancers and DJs. For something a little more low-key, try one of the delicious cocktails at Bar Janssen.

It’s not all about partying though. The spa, spanning 640m², offers you the chance to relax after a day on the mountain. Warm up in the sauna or steam room, or join in a yoga lesson in the Zen room (for an extra charge). If you’re more the outdoorsy type, there’s an incredible outdoor pool offering stunning views of the Mont Blanc. The kids won’t be bored, either, as the hotel runs its own kids’ club (for an extra charge) with a range of indoor and outdoor activities like movie nights and snowman-building.

The food options are impressive too. Half-board meals can be taken in the Savoyard and French-themed Le Petite Cuisine, serving up the likes of raclette, pizza and pasta, or in the brasserie-style La Fruitiere and La Mayen for a supplement – the dishes here are divine. If you’re feeling peckish in the afternoon, you can also grab a quick bite from the street-food stall, Le Kiosco.

After the day is done, you can retire to bed in a contemporary, ambient room, and get ready to do it all again.

Ratings

With all the various national tourist boards applying widely varying criteria to hotel ratings, the whole question of international hotel grades has become confused. We have therefore applied our own 'rating', representing the general standards of that country in order that fairer comparisons can be made.

Please note: rating may differ from the official star rating of the local tourist board. Our classifications take into account not only the basic facilities, but also the location, leisure facilities, general character and atmosphere of the hotel, as well as customer feedback. Chalet ratings give comparisons with other chalets but do not provide like for like comparisons with the ratings of full service hotels.

Your package price and availability

Our website's prices and flight, accommodation and room availability are updated every morning. To calculate average price per person, applicable discounts are subtracted from your total cost, which is then divided by the number of adults and children (excluding infants). A full price breakdown can be viewed on the payment page.

In some circumstances, prices and availability may update during the day so you may find price/availability differences later in the booking process.

This is usually due to high demand for the selected holiday. Should you have any issues with this, please contact us or see here for more information.
