So what's it like?
A charming resort nestling below the majestic peaks of Mont Blanc
Courmayeur lies at the foot of Mont Blanc, Europe's highest mountain, close to the French border in the Aosta Valley. It is a characteristic Italian village of cobbled streets, stylish shops and excellent cafés and bistros, all set within an attractive medieval centre. The main skiing area is at Plan Checrouit and, with over 80% of the skiable terrain covered by snow cannons, snow here is virtually guaranteed.
Ski information
Ski Information Beginners
There are several gentle nursery slopes situated at Plan Checrouit and Maison Vieille, however these can only be used when accompanied by a ski instructor. Tuition is excellent and the wide beginners slopes are good learning grounds in beautiful surroundings, although the gradient can be steeper in places than an average blue run.
Ski Information Intermediates
Courmayeur is the perfect resort for intermediate to good skiers, with an abundance of testing runs, including a huge choice of treeless bowls, challenging mogul fields, steep gullies and wide open pistes.
Ski Information Advanced
The challenging descent from the Cresta Youla to Val Veny entails a long run of 9kms and the Competizione - unpisted, fresh snow or moguls is a must.
