A safe choice for the complete beginner, with good nursery slopes in each village. There are also some great confidence-building runs, such as the Grande Alpe at the top of the gondola above Chantmerle.
Ski through the Parc National des Ecrins, which has some of the most glorious scenery in the French Alps, on long red runs from the Prorel, Aiguillet and Eduits. At Bachas above Monetier, you'll find a wide choice of runs which zig-zag through the trees - and Le Petit Alpe, Bois des Coqs and Grande Gargouille are firm favourites for adrenaline junkies. To end the day, Cucumelle is a fantastic long run back to Villeneuve from Bachas.
There's a good number of black runs and plenty of off-piste to be found throughout the ski area. Serre Chevalier is also home to the renowned Luc Alphand Olympic black run.
Rack up your mileage with a Ski Away-day to Montgenèvre. Just a 30-minute bus ride away from Serre Chevalier, you’ll be able to ski or board part of the humungous Milky Way ski area, make the most of great snow that’s accessible for all the family and complete run after run on quiet, uncrowded slopes. With your Serre Chevalier lift pass, you’ll get 1 free day to let loose on these fabulous mountains to slide, carve or freestyle to your heart’s content. Speak to your rep for more details.
Between Chantemerle and the Lautaret Pass you'll find a variety of tracks, all with beautiful scenery. There are beginners tracks, advanced circuits, family trails and even a biathlon stadium to test out, and if you're a skater, there are exclusive 'skate lanes' on routes in the valley. The cross-country tracks are accessible for a small charge.
Serre Chevalier is great for boarders who revel in the cruising slopes, ideal for carving, as well as the powdered off-piste which is great for freeriding. There are loads of trees to weave through, and countless natural hits and extreme steeps. There's the Serre-Che Snowpark, too, which is made up of three zones - consisting of over 20 features - which caters to different levels. There's even the 'Melezone' - a freestyle course made up of various wooden modules for you to play on.
