Purpose-built, family-friendly resort in a diverse ski area.
- Easy to meet people in the bowl.
- Excellent snow record.
- Easy access to Samoens.
A sociable ski bowl environment suited to beginners and families, the Grand Massif’s Flaine has one of the best snow records in Europe. It’s definitely worth heading up to the rim of the bowl from its centre to take in the views of the majestic Mont Blanc. And for those who want to venture a little further afield, climb up out of the bowl and check out nearby Samoens. Here you can sample a further 256km of piste and expand your skiing horizons across the wider Grand Massif area.
Back in Flaine itself you’ll find the resort is split into two levels, Flaine Forum and Flaine Forêt. They’re found fairly close to each other and are well connected by two funiculars at either end of each resort. In recent years Flaine has seen a shift from slightly dated hotels to more modern and luxury self-catering apartments, overhauling its dated image.
All this has made Flaine very popular with families who can pick and choose the perfect apartment size to suit their needs. Okay, so you might not find the traditional charm that you’ll come across in some other resorts but Flaine more than makes up for that with its practicality. The combination of varied accommodation options and the easy to get around bowl skiing makes Flaine ideal for mixed groups and is why you’ll find so many families returning here year after year.
