Flaine ski resort

Snow Range

700-2561m

great variety in a huge ski area

Flaine is often overlooked by Irish skiers, yet offers some of the best skiing in France, in the Grand Massif ski area in the Haute Savoie, with over 265kms of dazzling ski runs. Lying in a vast open snow bowl, the area is renowned for excellent snow conditions and sunny days. A compact and purpose-built resort, Flaine is set on two levels; Flaine Forum is the traffic free heart of the resort, linked to Flaine Forêt by two free funiculars, operating all day and night.

The slopes

Beginners

(Crystal rating 4)

Novice skiers will love the wide, gentle nursery slopes close to the village centre and there are some free beginners lifts so you won't need to buy a lift pass for your first day. The two ski schools offer expert, friendly tuition so you will soon be tackling some of the easy runs from the top of the mountain, back to the village in no time.

Intermediates

(Crystal rating 5)

The range of skiing for intermediates is first class, with an extensive lift system and huge choice of challenging pistes. The red slopes in the Flaine bowl are perfect for improving your skills, whilst the runs leading to the neighbouring resorts follow narrow tree-lined trails. From long motorway cruising to mogul fields, there is plenty to keep you occupied!

Advanced

(Crystal rating 4)

Expert skiers will relish the awaiting opportunities, with endless off-piste trails in addition to 265kms of pisted runs. Taxing black runs include the Diamond Noir, Styx and the wooded run down to Samoens or try the off-piste in the Gers Bowl.

Snowboarding

(Crystal rating 4)

There is some fantastic riding here to cater for any type of rider. For freeriders there is the area above the Samoens lift to exploit and trees are abundant in Les Carroz. For those more concerned with jumping and spinning the snowboard park should satisfy your needs. For the budding nipper there is a kids half-pipe called Fantasurf.
