Banff sits in a National Park in the heart of the Canadian Rockies receiving on average 30ft of the lightest snow in Canada. Three ski resorts are in close proximity offering an incredible range of skiing from the local area of Mount Norquay, to the expansive skiing that can be found at Sunshine and Lake Louise, just a short ride through the spectacular scenery on the free shuttle bus. The friendly Canadian town has a great choice of restaurants and shopping, plus lively nightlife, a great contrast to the secluded Lake Louise village.

The slopes
Beginners
Mount Norquay is usually very quiet, perfect for first timers, Sunshine has a designated learning area and long cruisers like Banff Avenue which stretches from top to bottom of the gondola. Lake Louise also has plenty for the beginner.
Intermediates
Sunshine is ideal with 55% intermediate skiing. Standish and Lookout Mountains, 2 of Sunshine’s 3 peaks, have the majority with a mix of intermediate terrain from huge bowls to fantastic cruisers, usually covered in Canada’s best snow. Lake Louise is also a great option.
Advanced
Sunshine has some of Canada’s best advanced skiing. Goats Eye Mountain has steeps, chutes and glades galore, plus Delirium Dive is the backcountry area accessible on the lift pass but you need a guide to enter. Mount Norquay has some surprisingly tricky terrain and Lake Louise has a plethora of black and double black runs.
Snowboarding
Freeriders should head to Sunshine and try Delirium Dive for a great backcountry experience or make the most of 8 acres of terrain park.
