Crystal Ski Holidays

  • About Crystal Ski holidays

Crystal Ski Holidays takes more people from the UK and Ireland to the mountains each year than anyone else. We've been doing it for over 35 years and are backed by TUI, one of the world's leading travel groups.

Flying from an airport near you to over 130 destinations across Europe, the Nordics and North America, we've got a range of accommodation available, from catered chalets and luxury hotels to self-catering apartments and family-run guesthouses. Our knowledgeable teams based in most resorts can organise everything you need to get on the slopes, plus plenty of different activities, so you can have fun off them too.

You'll get 24/7 support via phone and email, plus our Ski Explorer app features maps, snow reports, recommended routes and a friend finder. Most resorts also feature a dedicated rep, bursting with local know-how and ready to help.

We've won numerous awards for this service and selection of holidays. Some of the most recent can be found below:

    • Part of the ski community

To make sure you to get the most out of the mountains, Crystal has built up partnerships within the wider ski community. We've linked up with Snow+Rock, and we support Protect Our Winters.

      Protect Our Winters

We've been offsetting emissions in our head office with the Carbon Neutral Company for over 15 years, while also giving you the opportunity to do so while buying your holiday.

With that in mind, Crystal has become a friend of the new UK branch of Protect Our Winters (POW). Started in the US by professional snowboarder Jeremy Jones in 2007 as a climate activist group, POW mobilises the snowsports community to lead the charge on positive climate action.

POW UK is similarly aimed at helping people take effective action, but in a way that is fun, easy, inclusive and rewarding. Its objective is to mobilise the UK outdoor sports community to accelerate the transition to a sustainable and low carbon economy.

In practice this is done by engaging people and companies through their snowsports livelihoods and passions, educating them on the risks of climate change, empowering them to take effective action and encouraging them to do so.

      Snow+Rock

With over 30 years of experience, Snow+Rock knows outdoor clothing, footwear and equipment – whatever summer and winter adventures you have planned, both on and off the mountain.

They source and stock the latest new season collections from leading brands and have experienced staff in every store for friendly, expert advice and professional ski and hiking boot fitting services.

    • Your holiday is protected

We've made sure all you have to think about when booking is where you want to go. All of our air holidays are protected by the Commission for Aviation Regulation, so your trip is in safe hands.

Our teams are always on call. If something unexpected should cause your holiday to be cancelled, we'll pull out all the stops to find you the very best alternative and make sure you're never out of pocket.

All the flights and flight-inclusive holidays on this website are financially protected by the CAR bonding scheme, so on flight-inclusive holidays, should an airline go bust or weather ground your flight, you won't lose any money or be stranded. Please see our booking conditions for further information.

    • Responsible travel

The ambitious 2020 sustainability strategy 'Better Holidays, Better World' is built around three core pillars to help shape the future of sustainable tourism:

      Sustainability Strategy
      • Step lightly: in the long term, combating climate change will be critical for our industry as a whole. We need to continue to sell quality holiday experiences, which rely on beautiful destinations, thriving communities, stable weather systems and personal comfort. All of these are threatened by climate change. Our carbon management programme covers aviation, hotels, offices and ground transport emissions. These areas of our business each have clear and stretching targets for becoming greener.
      • Make a difference: biodiverse and unique destinations are the heart of our holidays, so we are proud of the role our industry plays in protecting and preserving them. Tourism can be a real force for good, from generating the transfer of wealth to promoting cultural understanding and tolerance. But we know that travel and tourism can also have unintended negative consequences. We rely on thriving communities to welcome our customers in destinations. That means it's important that the benefits of tourism reach the local community – in the form of jobs and educational opportunities – and human rights are protected along our value chain.
      • Lead the way: we believe that means we have a unique responsibility towards our industry. Our scale gives us the resources, reach and credibility to build the resilience and positive impacts of travel and tourism. Our role in driving sustainable tourism is to support our suppliers and customers, influencing the whole industry towards a more sustainable way of operating. To achieve this, we need cutting-edge research that allows us to understand our impacts – both positive and negative – and the most impactful actions we can take to enhance the benefits of tourism, like technical innovations in aviation and ground operations.

    • What we do

Crystal Ski Holidays was founded in 1981 as a specialist holiday company taking UK customers to Europe's lakes and mountains in the summer and ski resorts in the winter.

Over the next 15 years the company grew rapidly, and by the 1990s had become the largest ski operator in the UK; a position we still hold today. Crystal was acquired by Thomson Holidays in 1997. A decade later, following the merger of Thomson with First Choice Holidays, we became part of the TUI Group – meaning your holiday is backed by one of the world's largest travel companies.

Over the last three decades Crystal has continually added great new destinations, worked hard to keep the price you pay down, and developed new ways to make going on holiday easier.

One of these developments is the Crystal Ski Explorer app. Download it now to find friends on the mountain, track your average speed and distance, get the latest snow reports and access recommended routes from our teams in resort. If you've booked direct through Crystal, it also means all your information is in the palm of your hand – from flight tickets to accommodation details and pre-booked extras.

Once you've booked, we'll send a link to an online info pack before your holiday, helping you get clued up on your ski destination. It includes rep contact details, local tips and maps of both the resort and pistes.

Let us know your mobile number when you book and we'll text you a 24/7 contact number for our overseas team. You can then get in touch whenever you want, with any questions or queries. We'll also text you important updates, like travel disruptions, resort incidents or serious weather warnings. It's a free service that could really come in handy, and we'll only use your number for keeping you up to date and making sure you have a great trip.

Our reps will meet you at almost all airports to help get pre-booked lift passes, equipment hire and tuition sorted – making sure you're ready for the mountain.

Some resorts will have a rep based there so, if you need anything during your trip, just check your info pack or the app to find out where you can come for a chat. Even if there isn't a rep based in your resort, you can still get in touch 24/7 with any questions.
